Case: Ecomel

Ecomel is the organic dairy business unit of FrieslandCampina. Ecomel sells organic dairy products through its brands Groene Koe and Zuiver Zuivel.

Ecomel neutralises all CO2 emissions generated by the production and transport of the Groene Koe and Zuiver Zuivel packaging. This CO2 offsetting meets the highest criteria, the Gold Standard. Only sustainable energy and energy efficiency projects with a proven additionality are eligible for this label.

By purchasing Gold Standard rights, Ecomel invests in the Bundled Wind Project in Taiwan. Consisting of two wind farms, this project generates green electricity for the equivalent of 110,000 households. The resulting CO2 reductions contribute to counteracting climate change.
