Case: Erkende Verhuizers
The Organisatie voor Erkende Verhuizers (Organisation for Certified Movers) is the umbrella organisation of Erkende Verhuizers in the Netherlands. The organisation supports its members in taking energy reduction measures. Partnering with GreenBalance, the organisation has also introduced carbon neutral moving for consumers.

In a carbon neutral removal, all carbon emissions from energy
usage during the removal are compensated. In addition to the fuel
usage of the moving van(s), this also includes packaging material.
GreenBalance has made a calculation of the carbon emissions based
on an 'average' household move. The consumer pays a fixed, low
price for carbon offsetting, regardless of the
destination.
Carbon
offsetting is achieved by buying Gold Standard credits from a
sustainable energy project outside of Europe. The Gold Standard,
whose founding partners include the World Wildlife Fund, has the
highest international criteria for carbon offset projects.
Erkende Verhuizers has chosen a Gold Standard wind energy project
in Taiwan. This is a bundled project of two wind farms on the west
coast of Taiwan. The project provides clean electricity to the
equivalent of 110,000 households.
