Sustainable Energy
Along with energy reduction, the use of sustainable energy is the best way to reduce your carbon footprint. The production of sustainable energy – from wind, water, sun or other natural resources – doesn't generate harmful greenhouse gases.
You can switch to green energy in two ways.
- Switch to green energy directly, for example from our partner
Windunie;
- Use so-called green certificates on top of your 'grey'
electricity consumption.
Green certificates
Green certificates, or Guarantees of Origin (GoO's), are a proof of
the sustainable source of electricity. Since all electricity – both
green and 'grey' electricity – is delivered to the same grid, green
certificates ensure that your particular eletricity consumption has
a green source.
GoO's can also be purchased separately, as a way of making your
grey electricity consumption green. This has the advantage of
not having to switch energy supplier, and you can select the type
of green certificates you want yourself. To offset your grey
electricity you need one green certificate for every MWh.
GreenBalance can supply all types of green certificates, from the
Netherlands and from abroad, and from different sustainable
sources, like wind, water and biomass. We prefer using green
certificates with the Dutch Milieukeur.
